A MUSIC and comedy event organised by funeral directors in Northallerton has raised £1,600 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.

Hill Brothers Funeral Directors, on Zetland Street, held the ‘Rocking Northallerton’ event at the Working Men’s Club on Elder Road where the audience was treated to the sounds of the 60s by band The Defenders and belly-laughs from comedian Mike Kelly.

The event also included a raffle, with prizes donated by The White Swan at Ampleforth, Power Point in Thirsk and Hares Studio in Northallerton among others.

After all the proceeds from the event were added up, Tony Doveston, of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, was delighted to visit the Northallerton business to collect a remaining payment amount of £1,500.

Mr Doveston said: “We really do appreciate all the hard work and it was a great night out as well.”
