More helpers are needed to run Thirsk’s new skate park.

The £157,000 park is located on Gravel Hole Lane in Sowerby and was officially opened last month.

“We have a small committee who oversee the management of the park,” said Lawrence Monaghan, chairman of Thirsk8 Park Ltd.

“But we need more volunteers to either open the park in the morning, close it at night and do a small litter pick – jobs that will take no more than ten minutes.

“The park has taken ten years to reach fruition and designed around the ideas of young people – we want to keep this high quality facility in great condition and open daily for youngsters to enjoy, but we need the help of volunteers to do that.”

Thirsk8 Park is holding its annual general meeting at Thirsk Youth Centre on Wednesday, September 12, at 6.30pm, and members of the public are welcome to attend the event.
