The Sport Relief mile is coming to Ripon and there is still time to enter the race, organisers have said.
One mile, three mile, and six mile runs will all set off from Hell Wath playing fields on Sunday, March 25 at 8.30am.
The club’s Chris Slater said: “The Ripon City Panthers Mile is set to be an amazing event. It’s fantastic that so many people of Ripon are gathering together to show their support for Sport Relief 2012. But we want this to be the best Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile yet – so raise your game, enter The Ripon City Panthers Mile today and join the rest of the nation to raise plenty of cash for an incredible cause.”
Ripon Tennis Club is also planning a pair of marathon events for the charity effort.
A “tennisathon” and “cyclathon” will take place at the club, with tennis being played continuously from 8am on Saturday, March 24 until 8am Sunday, March 25 cycling on an exercise bike throughout the day on Saturday.
“We wanted to do something as a club for such a worthwhile cause and making use of our fantastic facilities through the night seemed the ideal answer, though perhaps not for those covering the early hours!” said the club’s manager Diane Hutchinson.
More than one million people are expected to take part in the Sport Relief Mile across the country to raise money to change lives at home and across the world’s poorest countries.
The Leeds Building Society will be accepting donations for Sport Relief at the Ripon branch at 17 Market Place North.
Sport Relief Mile events are also planned in Boroughbridge, Nidderdale Leisure Centre, Sessay, Harrogate and Bedale. For more information or to enter visit www.sportrelief.com
