Hambleton celebrated the visit of the Olympic Torch last month - both in and out of the water!
On June 20 more than 400 people took advantage of the £2.12 swim offer at all four district council run leisure centres, the day the torch visited Hambleton.
during Big Swim Week more than 800 people attended family fun days held at each centre which saw lots of activities held in the water from fitness classes and lesson to fun games and races. The week also saw exclusive membership offers available, special swim taster sessions for 50+, and prizes on offer to the finders of a number of gold medals hidden around the centres.
A grand prize draw also took place with John Brigginshaw of Romanby, Northallerton and Erin Derry from Faceby, near Middlesbrough both winning a Roberts Portable Sports DAB radio, donated by Maxwell’s of Northallerton.
“The week was a huge success,” said Health and Fitness Manager, Jonny Morris.
“We wanted to celebrate the momentus visit of the Olympic Torch to Hambleton while at the same time encouraging more people to get into the water and take up swimming.”
