Thanks to local promoters DMB, there's a couple of cracking indie concerts coming up shortly
First up on Friday, March 12 is a double bill of brilliant one-man bands in the shape of Napoleon IIIrd supported by Dan Webster of The Birdman Rallies.
Mr IIIrd, who recently supported Wild Beasts on tour, is signed to Brainlove Records and has been described as "The Beach Boys in Mr Wilson's sandpit, wrestling with John Cage's baby boy who is currently learning to play the trumpet."
One of Leeds' finest exports, he played a fanatastic set for Charm in Harrogate at Monteys most recently.
Back by popular demand is Dan Webster whose band Harrogate/York band The Birdman Rallies have been played on both Radio 1 and Radio 2 in the last year, despite being unsigned.
This multi-instrumentalist makes being brilliant look easy.
Next up on Saturday, March 27, are a hotly-tipped Glasgow-based experimental indie-pop outfit with slight folk leanings called Zoey Van Goey who have been signed by Chemikal Underground Records (once home of Mogwai).
Their debut single was produced by none other than Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian and were described by Gideon Coe on BBC6 Music as "very splendid" and by Clash magazine as "anthemic, insightful indie-folk with wonderful sparkles of humour."
Support comes from talented Harrogate singer-songwriter Ade Payne.
Tickets for both shows costing £8 (£6 students) are available from 01765 605987 or by emailing dmb@dmblivemusic.co.uk
