PRODUCT design consultancy Pd-m International Ltd has been named International Business of the Year at an award ceremony in Leeds.
The Harrogate-based firm won the Yorkshire Enterprise and Diversity Awards award for expanding its non-UK business in the past year.

Pd-m specialises in designing new products for the medical, consumer and telecoms sectors and can also project manage and oversee production.

Much of the manufacturing is carried out in the Far East, and managing director Richard Hall has established strong links with Chinese businesses with expertise in specific areas of production.

He frequently visits China and Hong Kong to monitor the manufacturing process on behalf of his clients and also works closely with international businesses who want to use British design expertise to create products for the UK market.

Mr Hall said: “Winning this award is a real boost for us as we look to expand our work overseas even further and promote Yorkshire design globally.”

“We’re ahead of our game because we understand the Chinese in terms of their business, their culture and the technical differences between them and the UK.”

The awards were organised by training and enterprise organisation ATL and were sponsored by Yorkshire Forward, Business Link and UKti.
