A MOTHER of three who ran an Ofsted registered childcare business from her home has used the skills she built up when caring for children to teach them how to make pottery and paint.
Jackie Roberts launched Pots of Colour from her Wetherby home offering childrens' parties, pottery painting sessions, make your own pot workshops, ladies painting evenings and oil painting classes for beginners.
“I am a very creative, artistic person and it was a friend who suggested that I set it up as he felt the rapport I had with parents and children along with my artistic capabilities would make it a success.
“The studio is in a really pleasant quiet location with a country feel and with a lot of my customers being children they find it all great fun with the hens coming in and trying to lay eggs indoors.”
Jackie has discovered that children’s pottery painting parties are very popular and school holidays are busy with mums bringing their children in to paint their own pots.
“I've run after school pottery classes in several local schools and they keep asking me to go back,” said Jackie.
“Now more people are becoming aware of Pots of Colour I would like to offer a wider range of arts and crafts sessions at my studio.”
