THE breakfast show presenter Chris Evans has revealed his love of Real Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese.
The BBC Radio 2 star told millions of listeners how much he enjoyed the cheese which is made at the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes.

He said: "I went to the Wensleydale factory once and it was great – it was a great day out."

His comments were prompted by Wensleydale being named as an answer to a crossword puzzle.

campaign

Evans is the latest celebrity to endorse the cheese which achieved international fame thanks to the animated characters Wallace and Gromit.

His support for real Wensleydale comes as the Hawes-based dairy steps up its campaign to win Protected Designation of Origin status for the cheese, which would give it the same exclusivity as Champagne and Parma ham.

A special website has been set up – www.realyorkshirewensleydale.co.uk – where people can register their support for the campaign.
