A FARM shop and cafe near Northallerton has been named 'outstanding newcomer' at the deliciouslyorkshire awards held last week.
Roots Farmshop and Cafe, in East Rounton, was one of several local winners at the prestigious awards which celebrate the best of Yorkshire food producers and retailers.

Picking up the award for Roots, Katherine Hutchinson said: "We are hugely honoured to receive this award, especially as competition was fierce – over half of this year's entrants are less than two-years-old.

"We hope to live up to the promise of future success and, with the support of deliciouslyorkshire, we feel this is an achievable goal."

Other winners included Bedale-based Yorkshire Dales Meat Company (best fresh meat product), Taste Tradition of Thirsk (best prepared meat product) and last year's deliciouslyorkshire champion, Shepherds Purse, also of Thirsk (best cheese product).
