STUDENTS have celebrated in style after reaching new heights in their education.
Himalayan trekkers were among a host of Northallerton College students to receive special praise for their endeavour at an annual celebration of achievements ceremony.
Hosted by student council members Simon Howard and Jenny Woods and teacher Trevor Starkey, prizes were also presented by the corporate director of Children and Young People's Services Cynthia Welbourn.
long-lasting success
Ms Welbourn said: "Northallerton College's success goes deep and has been long-lasting and they have had a particularly good year this year. This college has served the community over the years with immense distinction."
The awards recognised achievements in a wide-range of areas from academic and music to drama and sport.
There were also awards for attitude and contribution to the student council as well as for sporting commitment and enthusiasm.
'rounded people'
Simon told a packed audience at The Forum: "Northallerton College is about being with your friends and enjoying the best years of your life, with the best teachers and best facilities."
Jenny added: "Northallerton College has helped us be rounded people."
The college was also presented with a craftsmen-made oak memorial board for the names of future award winners.
It was presented to chairman of the governors John Dennis by John Hyde, the father of ex-student Ben, a Royal Military Policeman who was killed in Iraq.
Entertainment was provided by the college's jazz orchestra, dancers and drama students.
